LIM College Students Gain Valuable Experience During New York Fashion Week
For aspiring fashion professionals at LIM College, New York Fashion Week represents far more than glamorous runway shows—it serves as an invaluable educational platform where students gain hands-on experience and forge industry connections that can shape their future careers.
During the February 2026 fashion week events, over sixty LIM College students immersed themselves in various aspects of show production. These students worked alongside seasoned industry professionals, participating in everything from runway rehearsals to last-minute garment preparation, floral arrangements for exclusive events, backstage organization, social media content creation, and finale coordination.
Michael Kors proved to be a significant partner in providing educational opportunities for LIM students. The fashion house utilized students as stand-ins during technical rehearsals, allowing the production team to fine-tune essential elements including timing sequences, lighting arrangements, musical coordination, and camera positioning.
Alina Joy, pursuing a degree in Fashion Marketing, described her experience with enthusiasm: ‘We served as substitute models during rehearsals, walking the runway with the actual music. The highlight came on the second day when we performed our walk directly for Michael Kors himself!’
Meanwhile, Fashion Merchandising student Amora Isonguyo contributed to the success of Bronx & Banco, an Australian fashion label. Her responsibilities included organizing and preparing model ensembles before the show. During the actual event, she assisted with model styling while simultaneously creating behind-the-scenes content, demonstrating how modern fashion roles often blend creative, logistical, and digital marketing skills.
The Fashion Week volunteer program provided LIM students with authentic professional responsibilities while facilitating meaningful industry networking opportunities. Through these experiences, emerging fashion talent witnessed the transformation of creative concepts into executable business strategies, observed the collaborative nature of successful design teams, and learned how meticulous attention to detail ultimately determines the impact of each runway presentation.
